440ml can. Jet black colour with small to average, frothy, rapidly diminishing, tan head. Intense and condensed, dark malty aroma, with roasty and chocolately aspects, notes of dark chocolate, couverture, cocoa, a touch of maple syrup, wafers, tarmac, whiffs of marmite, sweet-ish, slightly fruity-alcoholic and woody overtones with hints of cherry, liqueur, oak. Taste is sweet-ish and roasty, chocolately, dark malty, notes of dark chocolate, molasses, a touch of toffee, maple syrup, BA support with hints of red wine, cherry, oak; warming, alcoholic finish. Viscous texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, fine, dense, soft to flat carbonation. Very harmonious, well adjusted BA flavours, fruitiness fools into believing in a non-existent easiness - very nice sipper.

Appearance is oily jet black, with a small fizzy head which quickly goes. Aroma is oaky barrel, whisky, caramel, chocolate, dark malts, woody malt, boozy fruitcake. Taste is chocolate, roast malt, oaky woody barrel, vanilla, bourbon, sweet nutty notes, caramel, Christmas cake, coffee, whisky fudge, treacle toffee, maple traces, boozy warmth. Smoky trace. Sweet lengthy finish. Really good treat.

Can at home. Pours black, nose is chocolate, vanilla, caramel, meaty, taste is similar, a little boozy.

Can from the brewery at home. Black colour with a very slight head. Aroma and taste are wine berry fruity with chocolate and a slight whisky smoke. Rich full body.
