Barbapapa is an all malt, rich, dark stout for cold weather. Barbapapa means "father's beard" in French... our Barbapapa has a few things stuck in his, including Scarlet's pet ferret.

440ml can @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Nov 23. Thanks Mike for this. Pours dark with a good creamy tan head. Aroma brings milky chocolate, dark malt grain, coffee. Continues to taste, smooth full palate, confidently sweet, heavy chocolate, nice malt depth. Solid imperial stout.

Monday 27th November 2023, Monthly gathering in Chez Sophie. 440ml can from Mike, last beer of the session, cheers mate. Tanned head on an almost black body, moody looking brew. This is a malty one with loads going on in the aroma and taste, chocolate and vanilla to the fore in both, coffee being a close third; nice!

Black beer, tan head. Smells malty, a little zesty, a bit of anise. Flavour has a heap of sweet but toasty malt, a hint of coffee, some chocolate. Earthy notes, just a hint of boozy warmth. For the strength this is criminally drinkable, a testament to how well balanced it is. Nice body, a good balance of toasty warmth and sweetness. This is super stuff.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from HOTM. Pours black with a creamy, dense beige head. Medium to big sweet flavour, rich dark malts, raisins, prune, cocoa, earth. Full bodied, lightly oily and chewy, with fine carbonation and velvety texture. Warming finish, mellow roast, more cocoa, dark fruits. Very tasty and well rounded.

Can at home, from HOTM online, 03/12/21. Pitch black with a good sized tan head that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is mellow roast, sweet malts, molasses, dried fruits rinds, dates, figs, toffee, light cocoa sprinkle, raisins. Taste comprises chocolate, mellow roast, marzipan, rocky roads, molasses, candied fruit peel, light spice. Full bodied, fine massaging carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost. Top notch impy ... great mouthfeel and balance allied to a solid flavour profile.
