The intense, roasted malt flavor is derived from two types of chocolate malt and raw cocoa nibs. Whole vanilla beans, introduced post-fermentation, adds complexity and enhances the dessert-like qualities.

22oz bomber pours with a mahogany colored body that supports a dark tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a smooth thin spike of dark fruity esters and then chocolate followed by an earthy malt note and dark roasted almost coffee like maltiness. The taste delivers nice dark roasted malts blended evenly with chocolate and then rolling toward smooth sweet vanilla. It gets a little molasses candy here and there as it heads toward the finish. Nice.

Thanks Heidi for the bottle.
Being an imperial porter, I poured this into a snifter.
The appearance was a black color with a finger’s worth of a slim white to off white slightly foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. Light speckled lacing roamed around the glass.
The smell had some sweet to roasty cocoa to allow a nice rich yet bitter roasted coffee to try to make a stance but ends up fading just a bit.
The taste was mainly a good balance of sweet to roasty with the cocoa and coffee combining nicely.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a sessionability rearing its head slightly but I’m finding more of a sipping aspect from it at times. Carbonation seemed good for the style and for me.
Overall, nice imperial porter I could down again.

Aromas of vanilla, milk chocolate, some roast. Tasting notes of dark fruit, milk chocolate, vanilla, roast, coffee. Medium body with a semi-dry and slightly bitter finish. Medium carbonation, creamy mouthfeel. Nice porter.
