A deep dark porter with a thin dark brown head. In aroma, sweet chocolate malt with loads of cognac and wood, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice dark rich mix of chocolate malt, licorice, alcohol warmth, very nice and complex. On tap at Liquid Arts 2019.

Bottle bought from Beerfly, Bedford, drunk at home. Scent of fig, raisins, brandied plums. Massive notes of cognac, but the nose is also quite peaty. Tastes sweet with a good dollop of boozy sourness all the way down. Bitterness on the back of the tongue in the finish with stone fruit, black grape, some dark chocolate. An amazing beer even further improved with barrel aging which plays to its strengths. One of the best.

Power tasting at Erik's, "14 03 21 622"
Black colour with brownish creamy head. Roasted malt aroma, some wet cardboard. The roasted malt also dominates the flavour; the mouthfeel is smooth; good body strength, it has enough sweetness, some dark chocolate, and a moderate spirit note from the cognac that integrates very well.
Very good.

330ml bottle at Erik's. Appearence: almost black with a beige head Aroma: roasted malt, barrel notes, some dark fruits Taste: quite sweet, roasted malt bitterness, some barrel notes Overall: this one is too thin for what it is. The sweetness and bitterness is not supported by body at all. It's ok, though.

Dark brown, medium head. There's a nice sort of nutty black malt note, mellow fruits, and a bit of wood. Some chocolate, too. Soft and chocolatey, nice cognac and wood finish. Vaguely nutty, and some rich vinous sweetness, almost port-like honestly. Interesting. Big body, but light for a beer this size.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, mostly lasting, moderately lacing, tan head. Roasty dark malty, chocolately, minimally spicy and fruity aroma, notes of dark chocolate, couverture, liquorice, hints of dark berries, a touch of plum and cherry. sherry overtones, a touch of yellow apple. Taste is roasty and chocolately dark malty, slightly fruity and minimally spicy, notes of dark chocolate, couverture, fruity notes of plum, blueberry, cherry, bramble, a touch of liquorice, sherry overtones, some yellow apple, a minimally metallic touch. Oily texture, smooth and soft palate, gentle carbonation, full body gets lifted by anti-gravitational, refreshing, fruity centrifugal forces. You'll drink this in small sips, naturally, but without a noteworthy break between them. Addictive. Põhjala has created some outstanding basic beers (like Öö and Must Kuld), and every variant allows a further glimpse of paradise. Superb!
