Brewed with two types of oats which make up over one quarter of the malt bill for this beer. Locally sourced Gloagburn farm rolled oats grown 22 miles from the brewery, and Golden Naked Oats from Simpsons malt, which are lightly caramelised providing a nutty creamy character. The combination of these with additions of chocolate malts and roasted barley, provides a beer with a silky mouthfeel, mellow chocolate and coffee notes.

Can from Great Grog. Dark brown body with a thick tan head. No visible carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of chocolate and charred wood. Flavour of creamy oats and roasted malt. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. Rich and creamy.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours darkest brown to black with a small, but sturdy khaki head. The aroma is dark roasted malt, big espresso vibes, umami, dark chocolate, liquorice, cacao nibs, nuttiness, praline and some rocky road. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, dark roasted malt, toothy, malt loaf, umami, liquorice, liquorice allsorts, dark chocolate, slick, thick, toasted nut, praline, touch of spice, dark roast coffee, espresso and some pleasing alcohol presence. Thick, fulsome body, average carbonation and slick mouth feel. A very grown up stout. No filthy sweet adjuncts to it. Robust and satisfying.

440ml can. Pours jet black with a medium head. Aroma is bitter roast, coffee and a little porridge. Taste has beefy roast to start throughout with a little yeasty porridge on the finish.
