Scottish Double Oatmeal Stout
Brewed with two types of oats which make up over one quarter of the malt bill for this beer. Locally sourced Gloagburn farm rolled oats grown 22 miles from the brewery, and Golden Naked Oats from Simpsons malt, which are lightly caramelised providing a nutty creamy character. The combination of these with additions of chocolate malts and roasted barley, provides a beer with a silky mouthfeel, mellow chocolate and coffee notes.

Can to tulip.
Appearance: very dark brown to almost black in color with a one finger's khaki foamy head which slid off nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: dark and milk chocolate malts up front with some sweet grains, caramel malts and some nutty tones, light coffee
Flavor: fantastic blend of the prior noted aromas sweet and roasty then an undertone of bitterness; super mild aftertaste of the chocolates and nuttiness
Texture: medium bodied, somewhat a sipper; silky smooth along my tongue; finishes smooth through the chocolate malts
Overall: an extremely very nice imperial stout I would love to have again.

Purchased in the Local in Vermont: pours black with beige head. Nice roasty, dark chocolate nose. Taste is not too sweet nor particularly bitter. Very smooth with nice mouthfeel. Oatiness is certainly there.
