Cask @ Harkers, York. 180611. Light brown, clear ale with rich white head. Aroma of faint malt and cereal. Taste - initial sweetness of malt then a rough metallic bitterness which gets more intense with drinking (I could only finish half as pint). The awful metallic finish (tastes of copper coins) overwhelms the initial bland malt taste. Unpleasant to drink. The keg version is actually better - it tastes of very little but the finish is no way so harsh. One of the worst cask beers I’ve tasted.

Cask handpull at The Crown Hotel, Liverpool. Some yeast on aroma, some malt in mouth, but this is a very uninteresting bitter with an odd yeast to it.

Sampled at the Lord John Russell, London WC1 14/7/08. Deep amber coloured with a moderate white head. Malty throughout, with some sweetness but not cloyingly so. Pretty inoffensive all round.

Cask at the Lord Russell in Bloomsbury. Light fruity, near cola, aroma. Dark amber with an off-white head. Medium body with light carbonation. Fresh fruit with darkish roasted malt. Slightly harsh like a brown can be. Somewhat watery - flavor washes over all. Pleasant.
