The ‘Opus Obscurum’ project will be used to test the limits of brewing and blending within Brewery Bravoure.
Batch 2 was all about out-of-the-box blending. For this, Deadalus 2024 (Barrel aged barleywine) was used which was then blended with a reduction of 10 years aged port and red wine (Beaujolais) This reduction matured for 3 months on wood from a used wine barrel after which it was blended with the beer.
The idea behind this beer was to make an enormously layered and complex beer that retains the structure of a ba barleywine, but around which you have the smoothness of the port and the fruitiness of the wine, and to finish it off, some tannins from the French oak.
