This year, we decided to put the Weizen (wheat) into the Wiesn (what the Munich locals call the place where the Oktoberfest tents are pitched), and make a party wheat for the festive season. Darker in color than our Hefeweizen, this robust wheat features notes of caramel and banana bread crust, and is complemented by aromas and flavors of clove spice, dates and banana flambé. A snuggly Hefe to take us into the fall, it’s kind of our interpretation of a PSL.

Bread, candied pecans, pear aroma. Babyfood undertones. Clear copper, medium head. Bread, spicy phenols. Medium body, easy carbonation. Interesting.

Junction Road store Aromas are traditional hefeweitzen of bananas, cloves and malt with some spice. Flavors are similar to nose. Slightly thin body and light carbonation. Totally forgettable.

16oz can. Somewhere between a Dunkelweizen and Hefeweizen. Caramel malts, banana, clove. All around nice beer. Medium bodied, very sessionable.

On tap at Dovetail, pours a cloudy dark amber orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out bready malt, light sweetness, and some banana-like esters. Flavour is like a hef, in the sense that it has lots of banana and clove, backed by a slightly maltier character. It's not really my jam but it's competent.
