Hoppy? Brother, 471 IPA redefines hoppy. 471 is a small batch, limited edition ale that was created by our Brewmaster to separate the weak from the strong. 471 is a double IPA, that combines Pale, Munich, Caramel-30, Carapils and Torrified Wheat malts, with Chinook, Centennial, Simcoe and Fuggles hops. It has a big sweet mouthfeel, followed by more hoppiness than you've ever had at one time. Enjoy

Almost oxidized aroma, with lots of honey. Smooth and sweet with the hops not really working. Decent and malty but not very impressive.

Bottle from Vintage Cellar. Copper color with a huge off-white head. Aroma of citrus uber-hop. Full bodied with mildly creamy carbonation. Flavor is very hoppy. Citrus and more. Lots of florality. Lots of hop. It’s bitter, but it’s more hoppy than that. Astringent. Dry too. There’s caramel malt, but it’s all about the hops. A ton of hop. Fantastic DIPA.

Slightly hazy orange/amber coloured body with a small tan head. Aroma of fresh hops, citrus, pineapple, curacao and some sweet caramel. Medium-bodied; Spicey taste up front with some sweet tastes followed by a little hoppiness - not much at all for a ’double hopped’ beer! Aftertaste clean and a bit bitter. Overall, decent, not like the name suggests - so don’t expect an IPA even! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 28-May-2005 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

If its such a small batch, why has everyone rated it? What else can I say about this beer, it’s on style! Hazey light brown. Smells hop floral, cirtusy fruity grapefruit. Bitter chewing grapefruit rind experience rototilling the tastebuds. Oily mouthcoating soapy flavor. Finish is lingering like an unwanted visitor. Burping green grapefruit rinds after the session. Toomuch for this lager lover, but go for the punishment if you like IPA! S7L3F2T3O4

Bottle: Clear copper pour with a thick off-white head. Heavy citrus and caramel in the nose. Taste... well, this mutha was hot! Heavy floral bitters. Light citrus. Overall a bit soapy, but very intense in the floral bitter dept. Thanks Matt.

12 oz bottle. Pours slightly golden orange with a nice dense off-white head. Aromas of caramel, citrus and grassy hops, and a little honey. Flavors of grapefruit hops, caramel, solid bitterness. A little more grassy hops and sweetness come through when it starts to warm up. Pretty good beer, but it’s not quite on the level of a really good IIPA. Was enjoying it until the dog came along to knock the last 4 oz or so on the floor.
