American Brown Ale

A smooth, toasty brown ale, Best Brown is a mainstay in our fall lineup. With hints of caramel and cocoa, the malt body has the depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. This balancing act is aided by the generous use of American hops.

Rcvd in trade: it pours slightly brown and leaves a tan colored body and leaves a one finger off-white head. It leaves some nice spotty lacing and no carbonation is seen rising. The aroma has a fair amount of toffee up front with some nice subtle flavorings of nuts as well as some chocolates and caramels. The flavoring is basically the same with more of the maltiness coming out as the beer warms. Its pretty easy on the palate for the most part or at least as any English Brown ale can be; overall, this is a very nice English Brown that I recommend and would definitely have again.

Dark Reddish Brown Color, Huge Head, Lots Of Lacing. Aroma Of Sandthorn (Hippophae). Taste about the same: Lightly Toasted Malt and Sandthorn (Hippophae). More sour than bitter. Medium Body, More on the Leaner side. Too Thin and Light ABV for Cold Weather. Interesting and an OK Brew, Although the "Best Brown Ale" is too strong of a statement. Too Cocky, since it is no the best. Brown Ale is one of my favorites styles and I’ve had better. Nonetheless, it is different and interesting. Worth A Try....

A reddish brown ale with a thin brown head. In aroma, nice peaty caramel malt with dark fruits and light licorice, coffee, very nice. In mouth, a nice woody caramel with vinous notes, coffee, musty notes, light grassy hops, veering on old ale.

Bottle as shown. Pours a dark brown with beige head leaving spotty lacing along the glass. The aroma is roasted malt and caramel. Medium mouthfeel with sweet roast and strong raisin flavor with nice bready finish. Easy to drink a very good brown ale from Bells. L

Dark brown pour under a frothy tan head. Nutty malt aroma with just a hint of floral hops. Light nutty flavor. The sweetness is balanced out with the hop bitterness. Light palate.
