Bottle split at the hungover breakfast tasting, Warsaw, 0800 Sunday 09/04/17. Rich golden amber with a decent light beige cap. Nose is grains, caramel, biscuit, straw. Taste comprises pale malts, corn, sweet elements, dull fruit esters, cereals. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Not great.

Sunday morning hangover tasting Flat in Warsaw 09/04/2017. A clear golden orange coloured pour with a loose white head. Aroma is apple, toffee malts, grainy, mixed malts. Flavour is composed of mixed nutty malts, apple, corn, some adjuncts. Palate is semi sweet, highish carboaniton, chalky finish.

Bottle shared in Warsaw. Pours clear, vibrant honey-gold with a frothy, off-white head. The nose holds crispy cereal, faint citrus peel, pale bread. Light to medium sweet flavour with notes of toasted cereal, light caramel, more bread, low bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Decent balance in the finish, more toasted cereal grains, generic grainy bread. Not bad.

Bottle. Aroma: sweet, caramel and munich malt, slightly candied and dried fruit jam. Taste: malt sweetness, caramel, dried fruit and light hop bitterness.

Bottle from some Alkohole 24. Old gold/amber body, shiny, lasting small white head. Malty aroma, full, light caramel. Similar notes continue on into the taste. Despite a lack of descriptors, I did note that this was a well executed lager, so props for that. Left me wondering how big a score it would have had if it was called Ziefenstadt Märzen and came from a random village in Bavaria.

"Marcowe" ist das polnische Wort für "Märzen" und an genauso einem hat sich die Brauerei Żywiec versucht. Es ist inzwischen relativ leicht zu bekommen, so kriegt man es auch im Speisewagen der polnischen Staatsbahn PKP neben dem "Biale" der gleichen Brauerei. Allerdings hat es mich ein bisschen geschockt als ich meinen ersten Schluck dieser dunkelbraunen Flüssigkeit genommen habe. So kommt weder der pils-artige frische hopfige Geschmack der österreichischen Biere und auch nicht der schwerere Festbiergeschmack der deutschen Märzen. Es ist einfach nur süß. Wenn es als Dunkles deklariert worden wäre, würde es passen. Aber Märzen ist das nicht.
