440ml can. Jet black colour with huge, thick, creamy, moderately to mostly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Sweet-ish chocolately, minimally roasty, dark malty and herbal, piney, resinous, grassy, minimally citrusy fruity, hoppy aroma, notes of dark chocolate, hints of coffee, a touch of lemon, scallions, lime, minimally waxy overtones. Taste is moderately (hoppy and roasty) bitter, roasty and slightly chocolately, dark malty, herbal-grassy and minimally citrusy fruity hoppy, notes of dark chocolate, a touch of French press coffee, whiffs of lemon, lime, scallions, a minimally waxy touch. Creamy texture, smooth and soft, silky, minimally cloying palate, medium to fine, soft carbonation. Neither the hoppiest nor the richest BIPA, but well balanced, soft and creamy; nice explication of the dialectic character of a Black IPA: dark malt - thesis; aroma hops - antithesis; BIPA - synthesis; the opposition of the ingredients is kept alive, but they work together very well - slightly (light and) simple but paradigmatic BIPA.
