The Foundry now famous for its beer once found fame on the world stage for its world-class production of street lighting; illuminating streets from New York to Amsterdam. With some of those lamps still lighting the city around us we brewed a porter with real history. The coffee-chocolate malt bill is taken from a historical recipe that made its way to New Zealand before we brought it back and added lashes of our famous local flower, East Kent Goldings hops. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Cask at brewpub, Canterbury. Dark ruby color, mostly vanishing head. Chocolaty, toasted aroma. Light-bodied to medium-bodied. Quite flat. Chocolaty, earthy flavor. Not very lively cask. Sweetish porter.

Cask, 5.8%. Appearance is very dark, ruby tinge, a half-finger beige head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, liquorice and port notes. Taste- lots of dark fruits, especially blackcurrant, port hints, bitter hops and coffee, cocoa powder. Pretty good.

Flaske 0,5l delt med Rune under seanse hos ham 7 Jan 13. 5,8%-versjonen. Gave fra Harrisoni! Thanks a lot. Dyp amber. Veldig høyt luftig skum men mye lacing. Forsiktig røstet maltaroma. Ølet står til navnet - “Light Porter”. En må nesten få opplyst at det er en porter en drikker. Alle karakteristika er kraftig nedtonet. Men det er et bra øl. Masse bunnfall.

500ml bottle, 5.8 % abv, received from the great man known as Harrisoni during a meet-up in London last November. Many thanks! Rocky, fawn-coloured head leaving lacework to the glassware. Nice rustic coloured body. Slightly roasted smell of dark, mid-sweet malts, notes of earth and bread. Bittersweet grainy taste with hints of caramel malts. Finish off with bitter roastiness and a touch of dark fruits. Medium bodied. Not a typical porter in my book, but quite nice anyway (shared with Finn, Tromsø 07.01.2013).

Cask (inside bar) at the 13th Egham BF @ EUSC - 15/11/12. Murky dark brown with a mahoosive frothy off white head. Nose comprises malts, liqourice, some spice. Tastes of dark malts, toffee, hint of booze. Medium bodied with light carbonation lending towards a smooth lightly roasted finish. Decent enough.
