The Foundry now famous for its beer once found fame on the world stage for its world-class production of street lighting; illuminating streets from New York to Amsterdam. With some of those lamps still lighting the city around us we brewed a porter with real history. The coffee-chocolate malt bill is taken from a historical recipe that made its way to New Zealand before we brought it back and added lashes of our famous local flower, East Kent Goldings hops. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Cask @ The Foundry, Canterbury. Pours a ruby amber, surprisingly not completely dark for a porter though probably a traditional hue. Creamy beige head. Fantastic porter overall, lovely variety of flavours, soft roast, deep fruity nuances, robust bitterness.. very nice.

Cask at the Foundry. Pours unclear amber-brown with a frothy, off-white head. The aroma holds light roast, toffee, burnt nuts, earth. Light sweet flavour with semi-dark malts, touches of leathery fruits, raisins, prunes, faint toast. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Finaihes with more ripening berries, subtle earthy bitterness, toasted mats, faint toffee. So so overall.
