As the first brewery in America to have our own 18-hole disc golf course, it’s no secret we share a passion for brewing excellence and a love for the sport of disc golf. So, it was only a matter of time before we’d craft a beer to celebrate the two. Brewed with Chinook and Columbus then heavily dry-hopped with Citra and New Zealand Ekuanot, Hop Hyzer is juicy pale ale bursting with tropical fruit aromas and citrus flavors with a clean and mellow bitterness. And at only 4.9%, it’s the perfect beer to complement a casual round with friends or a weekly doubles match. Tee one up and you’ll see what we’re talking about.

Anderson Valley Brewing Company has been a long-time supporter of the sport through disc golf-themed promotions, regional tournament sponsorships such as the San Francisco Safari, and hosting the Annual Legendary Boontfling held each August here in Boonville, CA. We’re excited to see disc golf become one of the fastest growing sports in the world and will continue to support it for years to come.

Can. Hoppy aroma, citrus fruit, light resin, spicy and grassy notes. Tastes the same as aroma, medium to high bitter. Medium body, hoppy bitter finish. Ok.

12 oz can poured. I always enjoy the cans that pop up from these guys. A brewery I really hope to visit someday. Barely a haze to this pale golden pour. Rocky foam head, tons of sticky lacing. Smooth, refreshing IPA. Citrus and melon forward hops, balanced well with the grain. Quite a juicy splash up front with this one. Really tasty. Disc golf would work too, but I want this on the full golf course.

More of a session IPA than a pale ale, with a bright hop front full of grapefruit, lemon zest, and hints of earth and green onion, then no malts to shore up the back end. Slight graininess pads the Ekuanot bitterness, but fades into oily nothingness rather quickly. Pours a pretty hazed gold, though, and the nose is full-on IPA-worthy with its hefty hop dankness. Light feel is good for repeat drinking, but otherwise not my type of hop-bomb.

12oz can. Not sure why this couldn't be classified as Session IPA, as it really drinks like one. Medium bodied, very sessionable but not watery or bland either. Enjoyable hop tone., modern, but still sort of mostly a classic West Coast feel. Some earthy tones from the dry hopping presumably. Perhaps a pinch past its prime, but the first time I've seen it in WI. Pretty good. Should definitely be classified as a Session IPA.

Can at Taps Beer Bar, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear yellow golden colour with a lasting frothy white head and a few bubbles. The aroma is malt, light woody citrus hop. The flavour is light bitter with a light, slightly watery, crisp, light fruit, light dry floral hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.
