Like all hatchets, ours is the consummate outdoorsy all-rounder. Half the alcohol of our flagship IPA Axe Edge, but still deceptively big on that iconic hoppy, citrusy flavour, making it the perfect session IPA.

Can. Buxton online. Hazed gold. Soppy soapy foam. Not particularly a looker. Bready malts. Some peppery notes. Hints of hop. Taste is semi dry. A touch of bready sweetness. Light and fairly clean. Modest bitter finish. Ok.

Can at home, from HOTM online, 23/02/24. Moderately hazed golden orange with a good sized lasting white head. Nose is orange zest, grass, melon, hedgerow, toasted malts. Taste comprises orange zest, citric tinged straw, melon, tangerine, grass. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with grassy hop bitterness. Passable pale ... sub par compared to Buxtons usual output ... a touch on the harsh side.

Cask @ Tap and Can. Pours gold, white head. Aroma of mild citrus. Flavour profile.. well, not great, lacks substance, seems a bit deflated, morose.. there are better, fresher tasting beers at this strength.

Keg, half-pint in Cromwell's Tap House, Shrewsbury on 8th January 2024. Watered down Axe IPA according to the pump clip. Clear light golden body, white crust. Pretty bland floral feel to this expensive beer (2:70 pounds a half is a lot around here!).
