Like all hatchets, ours is the consummate outdoorsy all-rounder. Half the alcohol of our flagship IPA Axe Edge, but still deceptively big on that iconic hoppy, citrusy flavour, making it the perfect session IPA.

A fairly standard session IPA. Clear golden, white head, light hop aroma. Flavour is light, slightly bittersweet, a little citrus zest, some malt. Does the job of being clean and sessionable.

Can at home after a bloody long day in the home office. Pours well, looks good and no real carbonation. Not sure if that is good of bad.... anyway, for 3.4% this has got a lot going on. Hops, malt, bags of flavour and good mouth feel. Reminds me of a light bitter crossed with a golden ale. I like this a lot!

Can from Tesco Metro, Manchester. Mildly hazy golden with a bubbly-frothy head. Lightly tropical fruity and dry, in a clearly lower strength brew, which does feel a tad thin.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from the big local Tesco. Pours mostly clear yellow with a modest, creamy white head. Quite nice overall, moderate pale malt sweetness, pithy lemon, citrus rind, straw, a little pine needle, biscuit. Light bodied with average carbonation. Well balanced finish, nice malt-hop balance. Super drinkable.

(Cask at Craft Beer Covent Garden, London, 16 Nov 2023) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity nose with notes of citrus, grass, orange and peaches. Fruity, hoppy taste with citrus, orange, peaches, grass, soft malt and a mild citric/grassy bitterness. Light body, quite dry. Tasty, refreshing and highly drinkable. Nice one.
