Our PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels and has been bottled for the first time on the 27th of December 2007. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. We dedicate this beer as a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Ølbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover our beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for our beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Ølbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

Sensory Session #57: Left. Nearly black color and a small white head. Nose is acidic, old vinegar to balsamico, very well balance of tart balsamico and roasted malts. Some red fruits and black currant at the palate. Faint licorice finish.

33cl bottle from hopt.it, France. 2018 vintage, as Pannepot Grand Reserva Old Fisherman's Ale Aged On Oak, bought in 2021. Pours practically black, with fine, light brown foam, limited. Aroma is malty, a little molasses, liquor. Body is only partially dense, but smooth, with practically no carbonation. Some oxidation. Taste is medium-high sweet, with a long elegant final, still kind of moderate in intensity.

Bottle. A wisp of a beige head fades from a dark brown beer. Aroma of stewed, dried and macerated fruit, chocolate, coriander, oak, edible foil. Sweet with lots of fruit, dark bread, not so much chocolate. Some bitterness and spices. The main sign of the barrel is oak, and there's a bit much of it for me. But very good.

Delicious. Huge notes from the 2-year Cognac aging. Dark, dark, dark. From Flanders but doesn't taste like those traditional ales.

Donker roodbruin tot zwart bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is zoet en kruidig warm met iets van drop, anijs en wat sporen van cognac.
