Liquorice imperial Stout... Brewed as our 9 + 1 beer for De Molen's Borefts 2018 under strict recipe guidelines with the exception of one ingredient. Our chosen ingredient is liquorice. A sleek, black dangerous animal with decadent layers of roasted malt and deep dark reverberations of oily liquorice.

(Draught at BrewDog Kungsholmen, Stockholm, 3 Dec 2018) Black colour with brief, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with liquorice, Tyrkisk peber (salty liquorice candy), coffee and a touch of citrus. Malty, roasted taste with notes of black coffee, cacao, treacle, liquorice, hints of soy sauce and a balanced citric/coffee bitterness. Full body, oily mouthfeel, quite sweet. Lots of liquorice, really tasty, but a bit unbalanced. Nice one.

Newcastle jaunt. Keg at the Wylam Brewery Tap Room. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aromas of liquorice and dark chocolate, dark sugars. Taste is more chocolate and liquorice. Creamy texture, sweet finish.

Keg at Wylam. Black colour with a tan head. Atoma has liquorice chocolate and hint of vanilla. Taste bitter maybe a touch of salt. Full rich body.

On keg at Potter Row. Appearance - deep brown to black and shiny. Thin attractive crema head. Nose - dark chocolate and roast. A hint of coffee and leather. Maybe liquorice. Taste - liquorice comes out at the start this time. Molasses, dried fruit and general Jamaica cake thing too. Palate - full bodied and chewy. Long, dry finish. Overall - very good.

Draught @ 10th. BBF 2018 [ 10th Borefts Beer Festival 2018 ] @ Brouwerij de Molen, Bodegraven, Netherlands. [ As Wylam Feasting With Panthers ].Clear dark black brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, dark malt, roasted, moderate hoppy, fruity hops, mint, heavy licorice - soft licorice. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, salty licorice, dark malt, sweet malt, soft licorice, mint notes. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20180921] 8-3-8-3-16
