Liquorice imperial Stout... Brewed as our 9 + 1 beer for De Molen's Borefts 2018 under strict recipe guidelines with the exception of one ingredient. Our chosen ingredient is liquorice. A sleek, black dangerous animal with decadent layers of roasted malt and deep dark reverberations of oily liquorice.

Tap @ Mikkeller, Aarhus. Nice head with good duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are rich salt licorice, chocolate, coffee and hops. Nice salty licorice finish.

Keg at the Star and Garter, Bromley. Black pour with a tan head. Aromas of liquorice (unsurprisingly lots of it), coffee,dark chocolate. Flavours of liquorice all sorts, espresso, lots more dark chocolate. Exceedingly smooth.

Tap@Peders, Copenhagen - Black pour with a beige ringed head. Aroma and taste is prominent liquorice, black jack sweets, dark sweet and light roasted malty, slick mouthfeel, medium to full body, liquorice laden malty finish.

Draught @ Pien, Helsinki. Pours pitch black with a tiny head. Aroma of roasty malts, licorice root, salmiakki, dark chocolate and earthy notes. Taste is a total licorice overdose with some roastiness, sticky syrup, salmiakki and dark chocolate. Finish is sweet, sticky and syrupy with loads of licorice, salmiakki and spicy notes. Quite a licorice overdose.
