Our best bitter adds a new depth of character to the traditional style. We use English bittering hops which provide the perfect balance to our unique combination of richly-flavoured malted barleys.

A further level of complexity comes from our abundant additions of dedicated aroma hops. Selected for their assertive contribution of spice and citrus notes, the American Cascade hop combines well with traditional varieties to create ale with a remarkable breadth of taste and aroma.

Brewed at warm temperatures to allow the fullest expression of our yeast’s fruity character, this bold and distinctive beer is one to be savoured.

Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at the Tucker’s Maltings Beer Festival, 15/4/2016. Amber in colour, with a decent, off-white, head. Aroma of grapefruit, pineapple and grassy hops. Flavour of biscuity malts and more citrus fruits, leading to a dryish finish. Good.

Cask at Cornerstone, St Peter’s Port. It pours orange-amber with a decent white head. The nose is juicy, stewed orange, candied peel, light caramel and wood. The taste assertive bitterness upfront, peppery, grapefruit, stewed orange, tangerine, varnish and pine needles with a lingering bitter-drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Deliciously bitter. Great beer, which makes it truly exceptional by Channel Island standards.

Cask @ Cock & Bull, St. Peter Port. Smooth and mild start. Fresh with nice fruity ale characteristics. There are fruity floral hops as well, nice bitter hops coming in in the end. The aftertaste is dry bitter malt, nice bitter ale aromatics, fruity hints, nice long aftertaste. Great Beer!
