Dark amber to mahogany colour, large, dense beige-ish ecru head; aroma of pine resiny, cocoa, toasted rye bready and some roasted nutty, as well as minimal grapefruity notes; taste is resiny-hoppy bittery with burnt bittery support and some over-roasted nutty and cocoa powder notes; not bad at all

14 September 2020. At Doppio Malto, Verona. Shared with the lovely Anke! Hazy black with a lasting, thin, tan head; some lacing. Aroma of herbs, hard liquorice, fudge, toast, fig, pink grapefruit peel, dark chocolate, pine resin. Taste has sweet dried fruit, liquorice & fudge, turning quite bitter with pink grapefruit, grapes & orange peel, resting on soft toasty maltiness. Earthy hoppy finish, grapefruity, decently dry, some orange peel & toast with warming vodka-like alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Perhaps a bit too herbal all in all but decent. Confusing name choice by the way.

On tap at Doppio Malto. Dark brown colour, beige head. Aroma of brown malts, coffee, some grapefruit, lavender, lemon peel. Flavour is medium sweet, malty, some coffee, tobacco, grapefruit, light resin like from thyme or lavender, medium bitter finish. Medium bodied.
