How does a brewery make a beer for the special occasion of the Pope coming to the USA; make it tongue and cheek or offensive, make it gimmicky, give it an ironic namesake or go punny (because honestly who doesn't love a good pun?), make it about the man himself and import ingredients from his native land, get the brewing equipment blessed, have a priest brew it?! So many options, but we wanted to do what we do best and make a helluva good beer with an awesome name first and let the rest sort itself out. Since a onetime special brew should be done as over indulgently as possible, we added three times our usual amount of hops for the dry hop process to the tune of almost three pounds per barrel, attacking your senses in the most pleasing way possible. Bone dry and bursting at the seams with notes of tropic and exotic fruits, open wide and guzzle it back cause You Only Pope Once, that's the motto people, #YOPO.
