Maibock or Helles Bock, is the last beer of Germany's Starkbier (strong beer) season. It is the transition beer from the Bocks, Porters, and Dopplebocks of winter to the Pils, Helles, and Wheat beers of summer. The Lenzbock has a sweet malt aroma and flavors with a slight bitter note on the finish. 2013 was our first year brewing the Lenzbock and we plan on brewing it again--look for it in April/May.

16 ounce can from Tavour. Brassy gold pour. Frothy white head dissipates to a manageable cap. Bready malt aroma has floral notes. Flavor is bittersweet citrus, honey, bready malt. Quite robust, with an underlying bitterness throughout. Finishes dry and bitter, with notes of grassy hops and crushed black pepper.

16oz can from Tavour. Bright, clear golden, active carbonation, fizzy head. Deep bready, grainy aroma. Taste hits with a mouthful of bready grains, sweet with a light bitterness. Almost chewy feel. Highly enjoyable from start to finish.

16 oz. can, pours a clear bright orange with a medium white head. Aroma brings out bright, fresh herbaceous notes, grassy hops and bready malt. Flavour is grassy and herbaceous in the hop department, with dry, fresh bready malt. Vibrant and clean, with wonderful drinkability. Lovely.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated March 31, 2020. Aroma is grain forward with notes of cracker, bread and biscuit. Light herbal, spicy hop notes with a light floral note. Ml Pours a fairly clear, golden orange with a fairly large, thick, pillowy, white head that recedes slowly to a small creamy film that lingers. Medium lacing and faint legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with moderately strong malt notes of biscuit, cracker and bread notes. Medium light bitterness and light, herbal, spicy hop notes. Light floral esters. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really nice, malt forward Bock that's clean and easy to drink.

Bottle pour, picked up at Hop and Hound. I'm so stoked that this brewery I used to specifically seek out every time I visited Oregon is now available at my walking distance local. Amazing addition to the style here, one that I honestly don't know nearly enough about, due to mostly my lack of samples. A clean golden pour, soft fizzing head that fades. Aroma is a nice, slightly sweet earthy grain. The slightest hint of a booze in the nose as well, but it actually adds to this for me. A thicker body to this. Not really creamy, but just thick. Nice malt bill to this lager. Clean finish, but with plenty of nice malt flavor. Really well constructed lager here.

Draught. Golden colour, delicious sweet pale malts. Yum. This is clean, well-constructed heller bock that brings out some beautiful malts, but is still dry and balanced. One of the best examples outside of Franconia.

Bomber from Corti Bros. Pours translucent gold with a white head. Aroma of light malt with a hint of noble hop. Near full bodied. Flavor is grassy/spicy over a nice "warming" slightly roasty malt. Finishes bitter enough for me. Pretty tasty.
