Can to chalice.
Appearance: dark amber/mahogany sort of color with a two finger white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: caramel/toffee malts, earthy character, pistachios, light Belgian yeastiness, some candied dark fruits then the cherries pop in a semi-sweet way
Flavor: takes all the prior noted aromas to blend nicely in a semi-sweet to spicy sort of way; mild aftertaste of Belgian malts & spices
Texture: medium bodied, great sipper, malty along the tongue; finishes with some cherry sweet and Belgian malts
Overall: enough of the Belgian malts show up to tell me this is a Quad - yes, but the cherry thing - that seems way fainter than expected.

I was fortunate to get a 16 oz can from Half Time earlier this year. Generally I have liked the Une Annee Belgian-style beers I've tried, so let's check this one out. Cooled off, not cold, I tilt the can into my Chimay glass to see an amber-caramel brown body and a rather spare ring of tan-silver foam. The smell is unequivocally cherry, I cannot smell anything else. With a sip I can tell that the concentration of cherries is diminished somewhat, there is also bread, cane sugar and a firm malt backbone working through. But still plenty of cherry flavor. Not a beer I would seek out again but, hey, it is a quadrupel and I have plenty of appreciation in that.
