Based on the winter beers brewed in the Austro-Hungarian empire in the 19th century. Brewed with a step/decoction mash from a base of Vienna malt and hopped with a single addition of Saaz as the wort fills the kettle. We open ferment this lager in a cold room, allowing a natural rise and fall of the temperature as fermentation progresses. Naturally carbonated and served with minimal conditioning time. A charming, bucolic beer with a wonderful, toasted bread crust aroma and mild, herbal bitterness.

My 25th Human Robot beer rating! On tap at 5th Street brewery. Number one with a bullet. Slightly hazed amber gold pour. Large frothy beige head. Aroma of fresh baked bread and herbal hops. Earthy, bready malt flavor. Light, buttery Saaz hops on backend. Some spiciness as well.

Smoking this after a fifteen minute mile walk in the cold. Could probably throw back eight to ten of these easily.
