Prodigal is an imperial oatmeal milk stout with a massive fudge and roast malt character. It’s a foundation for some of our favorite stouts, now here to stand on its own adorned with only a handful of cacao nibs and Madagascar vanilla beans to round out the edges.

Can at home. Pitch black, tan head. Lots of dark chocolate, roasted malts, oats, bit of fudge, lactose, quite sweet. Lots of things going on. Thick, heavy bodied, slow sipper. Pricey but quite good indeed. Purchased at Premier Gourmet

On tap @ Ghetto Something. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, nuts and vanilla. Pours pitch black color with large creamy brown head and nice lacing. Taste starts with sweet and rich roasted malt, chocolate and vanilla, follows by licorice, caramel, dried fruit and alcohol, mouthfeel is smooth and warm, while finish is mild bitter. Full body, thick creamy texture and average carbonation in palate. Fat, greasy and well balanced...

Can. Pours like used motor oil... black and thick. A bit of a head rises up slowly, but it settles back down fairly quickly and leaves a spattering of bubbles on the surface and little other trace. Aromas are wild... the first hint I get is of charcoal, but it disappears and I can't quite find it back later. Then some cherry/prune and vanilla... then chocolate and I finally find my peaty burnt notes again. It's got a pretty complex nose, but the axis it all spins around is that pit fruit and chocolate and flavor is lmost like a chocolate covered cherry at times. It has a bit of ABV warmth and a sticky feeling on the palate. Quite lovely and I wish I had bought a second one to cellar. I bet this beer shines even brighter in a year.

Vollmundig malziger, mild süßer Beginn. Hohe Süffigkeit, viel Schokolade, Karamell, verdammt gut ausbalanciert. Die Schokoladigkeit steigt an, minimal herb, vollmundig, vanillig schokoladiger Abgang. Lecker! 8/11/12/12/9/11
