Very much an heller bock though not mentioned explicitly on the label. A dark golden with orange hints, the slightest bit of haziness. Average sized, relatively large-meshed head, shows quite good retention and nice lacing. A not too bright or polished aroma: a grainy, slightly fragrant but also kind of husky malty base, some honey in the background, some apple-like fruitiness (possibly with a bit of acetaldehyde to it), perhaps a bit more hoppy presence than usual (grassiness). Taste notes follow the aroma closely: feels a bit more bright and clean in taste than it felt in the aroma, still quite rustic but now in a more accomplished way; some acetaldehyde is still perceptible, but it's not overwhelming. Sweetish as usual for the style, but there's a bit more bitterness than usual in finish/aftertaste. Medium body, pretty low carbonation; feels quite slick, but a bit of warmth is perceptible. Overall: pretty interesting, could have been a very nice rustic heller bock, but not fully accomplished (at least in this bottle).

Bottle @ Rewe, relatively close to the brewery. Pours cloudy orange copper with a small creamy head. Caramelized apples, White bread, honey and sultanas. A touch of barnyard and some sticky hops. Quite rustic. Reminding me of something between Rittmayer Aisch Hausbrsu and Görchla Bock. Bitter finish. Very enjoyable and quite fragile.
