Named for a little forest in the mountain passes of Thurinigia. This dark lager pours stealth black with hints of deep ruby. Toasty, with a heavy hand on roasted malts, and a nice dash of Tettnang hops for balance and spice. We used a single decoction, and kept the body lean for a more modern, highly drinkable approach.

From Andrew "I met Ben when he was working as the R&D brewer for an off-centered brewer a few hours south of here, but he probably doesn’t remember that. He had led a tasting at a local event space, featuring a few really oddball beers and some good laughs. I can’t remember when I actually met Ben in the brewing space but it’s been a few years anyway. Excellent mixed fermentation and West Coast pale, and a great approach to lager. As a brewer, sometimes you feel like a beer caught a little magic somewhere along the line. Ben seems to have an ability to tap into this magic, and I have been fortunate enough to witness it many times. We’ve been talking about doing something for a while…and here it is!"

16 ounce can from The Haus in Jenkintown. Dark mahogany brown color is topped by a robust, frothy tan head. Aroma of earthy, roasted malt and herbal, spicy hops. Flavor is rich, dark malts and spicy, herbal hops. Some chocolate notes on backend. Tasty.

Draught in Jenkintown: pours dark brown with beige head. Aroma is dark chocolate, grain, grass, toast. Taste is lightly bitter, some sweetness. Plenty of flavor. Quality.
