A fun project taken on by our brewers in an effort to create a German Style lager with notes of fresh baked bread, very light chocolate, and very low caramel. This was one of our most exciting brew days in recent memory, this isn’t something we brew often and most brewers will tell you lagers are a different animal to produce.

We mashed this with German base malts and hopped lightly with noble hops. We pulled out every trick we could think of to limit the caramel here, we weren’t messing around. While the beer is copper/amber in color we think you will find the esters (fruity) and sweetness is very low. A hit of baked bread in the front of the sip trailing off to light bitterness and ending fairly crisp for what you might expect from looking at this beer.

16 ounce can from Tavour. Auburn colored pour. Small beige head. Mild toasted malt aroma hints at cocoa. Flavor is light and tangy. Some cocoa, some caramel. Flavor and color are a bit off for the style. Dry finish.

16oz can from Tavour. Dark amber pour, off-white foamy head. Sweet malty aroma, light cola notes. Taste is malty and sweet, a bit too sweet perhaps. Brown bread notes and some caramel.
