Ridgeback staat bekend om zijn complexiteit in smaak en zijn hoge alcoholpercentage. Een hoger suikergehalte en alcoholpercentage maakt het bier zoet en het krijgt daardoor ook duidelijke tonen van karamel en Haagse Hopjes.

Can 330ml @ Home. Pours hazy reddish brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, dried fruits and caramel. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long warm, malty, dried fruity and caramel finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

0.33 l can from 'Rebelbeercans', canned in June 2024. Hazy, deep ruby with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently fruity aroma of molasses, caramel, raisins and prunes. Rather sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently fruity and slightly boozy taste of molasses, caramel, raisins, prunes, licorice root and light cinnamon, followed by a long, gently bitter, slightly peppery-boozy finish. Full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Solid Barley Wine, a tad too boozy.

Can shared with Nari and Gabor Gábor. Pours deep amber with an off-white head. Nose is sweet, boozey caramel, pine and some citrus zest. Taste is bittersweet notes of caramel, burnt sugar, booze, biscuits and pine. Closes with a warming sweetness and mellow bitterness, has a medium to full body and soft to average carbonation.

Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is caramel malt, toffee, raisins, candied/dried fruits, pear, some molasses, soft roast, marzipan, bit syrupy with a touch of liquor and chocolate. Flavour is sweet with a hoppy bitterness in the finish. Body is full. Pleasant and fairly rich Barley Wine.

Аромат прикольный, весьма сильный ну и конечно солодовый, немного сладости в виде пирога а также карамели с медом, но прежде всего и это удивительно, ощущается кофе и зерна, но они не горькие, а как будто их жарят. Цвет полу темный, с коричневый оттенком, пенка маленькая. Вкус тоже в принципе не сильно плохой, а даже приятный, с легким алкогольным оттенком. Есть много солода, немного сладости, как будто орехи, немного снова меда. При глотке все же 55 ибу ощущаются, но весьма быстро горечь падает, но за ней особо ничего и нету. В Целом норм барлик, но и все наверно.

Smell of sweet malt, caramel. Muddy colour, light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, candy, sweet malt, toffee, some earth. Also alcohol sweetness. Soft carbon, thick texture. Very pleasant.

Can from Albert Heijn (presumably). Hazy brown, big, frothy, tan head. Aroma of fig, red apple, raisin, toffee, dried orange peel, brown sugar, brandy, wet wood. Taste has sweet fig, raisin & date in a toffee-like, brown-sugary malt body surrounded by herbal tea notes. Herbal & resinous hoppy finish, quite bitter and hinting at pink grapefruit peel, whilst the dried fruit sweetness persists along with warming brandy-like alcohol. Full body, syrupy texture, soft carbonation. Delicious sweet profile, but sufficient bitterness pushes it into American BW territory. Nice!
