Ridgeback staat bekend om zijn complexiteit in smaak en zijn hoge alcoholpercentage. Een hoger suikergehalte en alcoholpercentage maakt het bier zoet en het krijgt daardoor ook duidelijke tonen van karamel en Haagse Hopjes.

Sample (thanks fonefan!). Deep copper colour with a mediumsized brown foamy head. Aroma is floral, some nectary, toffeeish and a bit spicy yeast to it as well. Flavour is alcohol, some toasted malts, wood, dried fruits and a bit spicy yeast with toffee too. Nice toasted malty and wooden bitterness in the finish.

A dark brown beer, bubbles are rising slowly, a head is quite big and yellowish beige. Aroma has dried fruits, prune, breadynesss, caramel. Taste has caramel, some breadyness, also richness of dried fruits, surprisingly dry. Full bodied, not stickyness. Nice beer, balanced with sweet and dry elements.

33 cl can @ home. Canned 28.09.2023, BBE 09/2026 Aroma has ripe fruits, sweet malt, some resiny hops. Flavour has licorice, resiny hops, some sweet maltiness. Mellow grapefruity hoppiness in the finish - turning finally to ashy licorice. Complex and good - perhaps a bit sticky though. Drinkability could be better.

A small taste @ the flagship Alko, press blind tasting. Pours slightly cloudy amber with a medium tan head. Aroma is sweet grainy malts with alcohol. Flavor is sweet, strong and bitter malts with alcohol, oak, lots of hops. Excellent.

ABV: 11.3%. Clear medium to dark amber colour with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, bread, sweet malt, toasted, caramel, dried fruit, barrel. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, caramel, sweet malt, dried fruit, bread, barrel. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - creamy, carbonation is soft, finish feel is warming and light alcoholic. [20240224]

Keg at If It Ain't Dutch, It Ain't Much, Bermondsey 27/10/23. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a beige cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is toffee, fruit cake mix, spice, booze, muscovado sugars. Taste comprises dates, raisins, charr, roast, burnt toffee, figs, brown sugar melt, hint of chocolate. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced boost. Decent.
