Belgian-Style Ale
Pilsner malt, flaked wheat and oats form the base of this beer. Hopping with Brewers Gold, Savinjski Goldings, and Chinook compliment the Grains of Paradise added late in the boil. A cool fermentation lets all of the ingredients shine – the result: a soft, fruity, fluffy and delicious rendition of a Saison.

Dan's Stag. Three Tuns. Bottle. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Rich pale malts, trace of grain. Modest spice and herb. Little tangy and bitter citrus. Light dry crisp finish. Quite drinkable.

Keg at Cock Tavern, Hackney. Nil aroma. Palw gold. Medium creamy white head. Low key sour with a hint of citrus. Some sugary sweetness finishes things off. Light bodied. Soft. Short finished. Drinkable. Refreshing. Uncomplex.

Bottle from Oddbins. Appearance - golden with a fluffy head. Nose - green stalks and lemon. Light spice. Taste - lemon and white pepper. Palate - close to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a long dry tangy finish. Overall - nice saison if a bit simple.

Keg at the Cambridge Brewhouse. Golden and almost clear with a small white head. Grass aroma with a light sourdough quality from the yeast. Bittersweet taste which sets up for a refreshing dry finish. Soft yeast and tropical fruit in the aftertaste. Light body buoyed up by heavy carbonation. While it’s a bit muted on the whole, it’s a well-produced summer drink.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up at Clapton Craft. Pours clear gold with a modest, foamy white head. The nose has some crackers, wheat flakes, honey. Light sweet flavour with some citric notes, wheat grains, light grassy and husky bitterness, more crackers. Light bodied with delicate carbonation and smooth texture. Finishes with semi-ripe citrus fruits, more crackers and grains, mellow husky bitterness, soft saison yeast expression. Decent overall.

On the SilkTork Southampton through the looking glass tour. Hazy gold lasting white head. Saison yeast aroma. Banana ester saison. More like a weizen than a saison. Decent enough. Smells and tastes like a wheat beer.
