My 8,100th beer rating. 500ml black bottle from Tavour. Hazy mahogany brown pour. Small creamy beige cap. Sweet toasted malt nose hints at caramel and dark dried fruits. Flavor is less sweet and more intense. I’m getting dry, earthy malt notes from the rye grain bill. Added notes of caramel, oak, dark dried fruits and peppery hops. Sticky mouthfeel. Dry, bitter finish.

Bottle, 375 ml shared with others. Easy going, brown with beige head. Toffee. Loads of caramel, some whiskey, touch of dried fruit. Medium sweetness. Sweetish with some bitterness.

Bottle at 12.6% from the brewery. Pours clear orange tinged brown with a very transient head. Strong aroma of rye - light whiskey notes. Approaching full body. Flavor is pleasing slightly toffeeish malt with some whiskey and a firm rye spice aspect. Wood too. Not dry, but not sweet. Rye spice and perhaps whiskey sub for hop in the bitterness. Very tasty.
