12oz pour at the brewery. Pours a watery black with some creamy beige head. Nose is mild, some roast, molasses, some ginger, brown sugar, some cookie. Flavor is nice, malty, sweet, molasses, some spice, ginger, a flick of black pepper, cookie, toast. Sweet finish. Super drinkable for 9.2%.

Not quite black. dark but not 100%. no head at all. Very sweet nose. loads of cinnamon, some brown sugar and candy corn. sort of a molasses weirdness. Yeah, it’s Christmas in a bottle but not in a good way. Yes, gingerbread but a lot of ginger, not too sweet and not insanely christmasy. Sort of roast and dry.

DC tasting November 2012. Brown-black-amberish body. Beige soapy head. Big, sweet, sugary. Nails the gingerbread part. Nice for what it is.

Bottle courtesy of Drake. Molasses, ginger, and cake aroma. Smells like gingerbread. Clear deep chestnut with a moderate tan head. Molasses and gingersnap cookie flavor with a long bitter spice finish and some alcohol. Medium to full body, moderate carbonation.

Consumed on premise at the Gingerbread Stout release party. This one poured a near pitch black color with little more than a wispy, small tan head to it. Aroma was some light spices, roasted and sweet malt characters, and what appears to be gingerbread. Flavor is cocoa, roasted malts, and gingerbread. Well I suppose they hit it if this is what they were aiming for. Alcohol was obviously there, but this brew was highly drinkable on that cold, windy Saturday.
