Can pour from Friar Tuck, Crestwood. Reddish-dark brown with light sparkle, thick head with excellent retention and nice lacing. Aroma is toasted malt, grain, dough. Taste follows aroma. Smooth, creamy texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Look and feel are great. Aroma and taste are fine.

Draft at Lucille’s Madison WI. Dark brown almost black pour. Nose is doughy and some caramel. Tatsss of burnt toast, caramels, nutty, leaf litter. Smooth palate.

16oz can. Crappy aroma.odd oily black malt tones, almost mildly infected tone..not sure what causes this off tone but I see it a lot in lesser brewers...sorry Central State. Roasty...drinks as much like a Stout as a Dark Lager. Pretty unimpressive...that was the can rate from years back..now for the more recenttap at DU rate.. Not really a great example of the style but better than the previous rate. Not really on the same level as its peers at this point. OK, but not impressive. 6-3-6-3-13

Pour is a dark brown with a large white head. Aroma is a decent roasted malt and cocoa powder mix. Flavor is roasted malt a bit of bitter char and some bitter fruit. Decent and tasty example of this style.
