Dark brown with a medium beige head. Sweet aroma with plenty of hard roasted malt, coffee, liquerice and coffee notes. Flavor had burned malt, dark bitter chocolate, coffee and liquerice. Finished burned and dry from the hops. Best beer I’ve ever had from this brewery.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours dark black with a creamy tan and dense head. Aroma is liqourice and dark roasted malt. Lingering liqourice and dark roasted malt. Sweet and lasting liqourice into the finish.

Draft. A pitch black beer with a huge dark brown head. The aroma has notes of licorice, roasted malt, and chocolate. The flavor is very sweet with very strong notes of licorice almost astringent, combined with medium notes of roasted malt and chocolate, leading to a dry finish, where the strong licorice note lingers.

On tap. Pours black an almost opaque with a vague tint of orange and a dense, creamy and very stable cappuchinoish beige head leaving a lot of lacework. Distinct aroma of sweet licorice. Medium body, sweet roasted malt - far from burned though. Again distinct sweet licorice notes and vanilla. Hardly any bitterness. The alcohol is scaringly well hidden. This is candy in a glass! 040810

(Draught at the brewpub) Poured almost black - some red on the edges. Clear. Head was quite large and light brown. Aroma contained burntness and aniseed. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burntness, sweetness, aniseed, mildly ash and medium bitterness. Aftertaste contained sweetness, aniseed and bitterness. Quite weird but not actually bad.
