Lichtenhainer brewed with BrewDog for CollabFest 2018 with BrewDog Berlin
The Lichtenhainer is an old German beer style, remarkable for its unexpectedly delicious combination of sour and smoke. It’s light and refreshing, neither too sour, nor too smoky. Our version, brewed together with Brewdog Berlin-Mitte, is made with oak-smoked and beech-smoked malt, and top-fermenting yeast.

Tried at BrewDog Dundee. Pale yellow golden colour. Light smokey aroma and hints of smoke taste. Maybe a touch medicinal.

Keg at BD Dundee. It pours hazy greenish yellow with a small white head. The aroma is rich smoked action, smoked cheese, bit of funk, barnyard and dull sweetness. The taste is dry, well judged smoked character, earthy, toasty grain, quite savoury, touch of salt, salted cracker and some sweatiness. Light boggy and fine carbonation. Well judged level of smoke. A nice example of this rare style.
