Brewed with the help of our friends at Charlie Herring Wines, we used the spent apple skins from their cider in this Apple Strudel inspired stout. With extra additions of Cinnamon and Vanilla, we hope this evokes a little decadent nostalgia.

Can bought at General Store, Winchester. Aroma is spot on - spiced stewed apple and custard. Darkest brown. Creamy tan head. The spice is up front and adds a bitterness. More intense than the aroma suggested. Apple acidity on the edge. Underneath this there creamy coffee and vanilla. Thick bodied. Oily. Long dry astringent finish. I could have done with more sweetness - it was harsher then.the lush aroma suggested. Whilst an interesting Impy for sure it doesn't deliver the sweet spiced fruit and custard I was set up to expect.
