Brett IPA
A collaboration with Funky Fauna out of Sisters, Oregon. We met up with Michael and Danielle from Funky Fauna to make a unique West Coast IPA with a twist. After primary fermentation with Chico ale yeast, we then aged it on Brettanomyces anomalus var. clausenii (widely called Brett C) for several months and then dry hopped it with Nectaron and HBC 586 to produce a funky West Coast!

On tap at Portland taproom. Pours clear yellow with white head. Aroma has lemon rockets, bright artificial sugars, and fresh grass. Flavour is slightly sour with notes of lemon, grass, and a lingering bitterness. Confused, poor hop expression.

On tap at Little Beast, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma has some sweaty feet thanks to the brett and earthy hops. Flavour is much more west coast-like, with lots of pine, and a touch of brett funk. I'm more convinced of this on the palate than the nose. It's not a master work by any means. It's alright.
