More than Amber
BA Imperial Porter 13% vol
A rich and velvety imperial porter aged in cognac barrels for two years.
Taste: The flavor is on the sweeter side and carries a warming alcohol presence. The initial velvety milk chocolaty taste is balanced with spicy vanilla notes and an elegant touch of cognac. The background reveals overripe stone fruits – plums, apricots, and peaches. The aftertaste is long and silky, leaving a pleasant nutty liqueur-like sweetness on the palate.
Appearance: A black beer with a slightly reddish hue, featuring a smaller but long-lasting beige head.
Nose: Highly aromatic with a room-filling bouquet. The scent reveals notes of vanilla, tobacco, lightly roasted oak, dark chocolate, and fruitier tones like raisins, dried dates, and plums, along with a pinch of clove and cinnamon.

Wry dark brown with a tan head. Big chocolatey notes, vanilla, cognac, dark berries, ripe fruit, oak, tart molasses. Medium to full body. Not like used motor oil but close. Finish is lingering with gentle sweetness of vanilla of rich chocolate. I don’t know where to put this, honestly. It’s fantastic, so that’s not an issue. It’s just a touch under the delineation point for superstud beer but it sniffs the line.

Almost transparent dark brown beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Smooth palate, a mild dryness, decent fine carbonation. Airy dark malts, a little dark chocolate, no sweetness. Cognac barrelling looms large but, for me, hasn't come out as well as you might hope. There is a big Cognac flavour here but the smoothness of the best cognac is impaired by a savoury bitter flavour and there is a touch of the gluey thing going on that occasionally manifests in BA beers of all types, fortunately it's not writ large here. Finishes airy and with some alcohol warmth. Overall, a big Cognac affair but bitter with it. Liked it but was hoping to love it.

Smell-medium strong, malty, caramel, faint wood, faint alcohol tones. Overall pleasant.
Foam- thin to medium, caramel, malt, sweetness. The head is small to medium. Go away fast.
Appearance- brewer bottle cap, somewhat simple label with ambers.Black in color, no carbonation.
From - pint
Taste - malty, caramel, sweetness, weak chocolate. Bit boozy, but sweet, pastry porter basically. I like it, but alcohol is very pronounced.
