More than Amber
BA Imperial Porter 13% vol
A rich and velvety imperial porter aged in cognac barrels for two years.
Taste: The flavor is on the sweeter side and carries a warming alcohol presence. The initial velvety milk chocolaty taste is balanced with spicy vanilla notes and an elegant touch of cognac. The background reveals overripe stone fruits – plums, apricots, and peaches. The aftertaste is long and silky, leaving a pleasant nutty liqueur-like sweetness on the palate.
Appearance: A black beer with a slightly reddish hue, featuring a smaller but long-lasting beige head.
Nose: Highly aromatic with a room-filling bouquet. The scent reveals notes of vanilla, tobacco, lightly roasted oak, dark chocolate, and fruitier tones like raisins, dried dates, and plums, along with a pinch of clove and cinnamon.

Bottle at home on a Sunday evening as a dessert beer. Aroma is lots of wood, vanilla, cognac, dark malts, chocolate, molasses, caramel, figs. Full body. Flavour is smooth, boozy and well-rounded, medium sweetness. Nice dark malts with chocolate, molasses, caramel, no bitterness, and lots of barrel notes in the finish, especially cognac with grape notes and oak, with plenty of wood and some vanilla. Lovely.

pours dark brown settles nearly black but with a brown hue, light brown head.
Awesome strong roasted malty aroma with notes of licorice, wood, coffee, cognaq, sweet notes from the cognaq. this is an old school imp stout/porter not even remotely pastry, but so so so so nicely clean BA imp stoutish aroma. very near perfect.
flavor is licorice, roasted malts, wood, serious roasted malty bitterness into the end. sweetness from the cognaq, burnt/charred woody notes from the barrelling. might be a little bit too sweet overall but otherwise a big , big, ba cognaq imp stout/porter. it could be a tiny tad more roasted malty, that might even make it more balanced, but very good as is.

Tap at Mon Petit Cafe. Black, tan cream. Salt licorice, light iodine aroma. Medium full, dry viscous mouthfeel, fun fizz. Barrel forward, toasted oatcakes, caramel, dark chocolate, salt, licorice root. Barrel notes retronasal, still, a lot more interesting than your average BA treatment.
