Sour blonde ale aged in oak barrels with lemon zest and vanilla beans

Sourrento was inspired by the lemon-flavored liqueur, Limoncello, which hails from the city of Sorrento, Italy. To achieve its unique, partly dolce, partly sour flavor, we aged our sour blonde ale with both lemon zest and fresh vanilla beans. The result is somewhere between a classic sour blonde ale and a delightful Italian-inspired meringue pie.

0.75l bottle, shared with Sima & David. Aroma is vinous, citrusy and mild funky. Pours cloudy orange color with thin creamy off-white head and fair lacing. Taste starts tart citrusy and faint woody, follows by vanilla and biscuit with smooth mouthfeel. Medium body, oily texture and lively carbonation in palate. Limuoncello…

Backlog. High yet suiting acidity. Surprisingly fresh, refreshing and drinkable. Quite liked this.
