Can from Big Trees Market in Arnold. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and toffee. Pours midnight black with dark tan head that fades to a collar of small bubbles and a swirling dusting over the top. Flavor leans into the roasted coffee. Faint floral aspects in the back half of the palate. Finishes dry, with chalky residue on the lips.

Can. Black beer with a brown head. Light roast and caramel aroma. Roast and caramel flavor with nuttiness. Medium bodied. Roast and caramel linger with nuttiness and light coffee.

Can from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours dark brown/black with a foamy tan head. Earthy chocolate aroma with a touch of floral. Med body at least. Flavor is earthy chocolate with a coffee aspect - in the end it turns dry, earthy chocolate. Smooth dark malt. Coffee makes a slight come back in the finish. This is dang tasty stout.
