27/10/2024. Bottle bought at Family Mart, Hakata Station. On our last evening in Japan what better way to spend it than in the company of this monster of a beer. I’ve been in lots of convenience stores over the last week and not seen it until today so had to buy it. It’s surely a rarity? Label suggest various ways to dilute this concentrated beer with carbonated water, pepsi, lemon but as we have none of that in our apartment let’s go neat. Pours clear bronze brown with a small frothy grey beige head. Aroma is boozy, malted, golden syrup, toffee, biscuit, butterscotch, brown bread. Quite sweet with a moderately harsh bitterness. Full bodied, smooth, average carbonation. Lip numbing alcohol heat to finish. This is like a rough barley wine. Far from perfect but more drinkable than previous ratings have suggested, perhaps straight up neat is the way forward for this.

Bottle shared by Cuso, thanks. Malty aroma and taste, caramel, oxidation, sirupy sweetness. Light body, malty sweet finish. This is not the right direction for the beer evolution.

Clear light golden color with minimal head. Overly sweet, honey, too malty, oxidized. Not good.

Bottle kindly shared by Cuso. Diluted with 1 part this, 2 parts sparkling water. Lots of oxidation, dried fruits, caramel. Little else going on. Medium sweetness, med-light bitterness. Drinkable, even if very watery. Sub-par even for macro. Beer concentrates do not seem to be the future.

Gift from a friend. Many thanks, man. This is DIY beer. 2 parts of sparkling water and 1 part of concentrated beer. Result is golden colored beer with medium white head. Strong acetyldehyd in aroma, light malt. Taste is malt, heavy oxidation, acetyldehyd. As curiosity good as beer no. I have tasted worse beers, tough.
