Dogfish Head has been brewing off-centered ales for off-centered people since 1995, with inspiration from every facet of life - the spice cabinet, music, even art.
What you have here is a serious India Pale Ale shacking up and hunkering down with mango and apricots. At the same time! Romantic Chemistry is brewed with an intermingling of mangos, apricots and ginger, and then dry-hopped with three varieties of hops to deliver a tropical fruit aroma and a hop-forward finish.
It’s fruity, it’s hoppy, it’s tasty!

New Beer Distributors, NYC bottle: pours reddish with a white head. Aroma is a lot of tropical fruit but not in and IPA way... Smelled malty like an amber sort of... Hints of ginger. Taste is sweet. Nit very butter. Mango and ginger are represented. Not my cup of bier.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run, 2/27/16. A rare new Dogfish tick! Clear copperish amber, large foamy tan head. Good retention. Aroma of apricot, an oaty sweetness and a bit of pine and ginger. The taste is lemon, oats, tea, apricot, marmalade. Medium bodied, low carbonation, bright. Interesting.

Dogfish Head Romantic Chemistry draft pint at Four Points near LAX A pretty clear copper pour with a hoppy fruit aroma but I get zero ginger from it which was listed as an ingredient. It’s got a nice flavor of chewy light malts, bright hoppiness and is crisp and tasty.

12 oz bottle, thanks for picking this up, Brenn79. Aroma is fruity--not really strong apricots or mangoes, but just kind of vaguely fruity, minerally. Pours clear new penny copper with a nice cream-colored head with excellent retention and leaving some lace. Taste is sweet and fruity, lightly bitter. Either tastes old or somewhat similar to an English old school IPA. Not sure about this one. Maybe (probably?) better fresh.

From a 12 oz bottle at home. Pours a clear copper with an off white head. Aroma of tropical fruits. Flavors of ginger and mango. Not a seamless set of flavors in my opinion, but decent enough.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark amber/copper color with moderate head. Aromas of dried fruit and sweet bready malts. Flavor so muddled fruit like a dark marmalade with a metallic spiciness. OK

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel color with a large foamy orange-beige head that left no lacing. The aroma was strong peach, ginger and tropical fruit with a table sugar note. The flavor was tangy and mildly bitter with tropical fruits, bread crust, citrus and mango. Medium length finish. Medium body.
