Sample at the taproom. Cloudy brownish-amber color with a medium thick light beige head that diminishes gradually to a dense film. Patchy lacing. Aroma of bourbon, malt and fruit. Medium to full body with flavors of earthy malt, oaky bourbon and fruit. The finish is oaky with a caramel malt and bourbon aftertaste. Above average overall.

Can, thanks SirLimpsalot. Dark amber with a medium head. Sweet with bourbon, toffee, dried fruit and malt. Some warming alcohol in the finish.

Big ol’ sweet, bourbony, super-thick Scotch ale, oozing with caramel and toffee, boasting a chunky, peat-lined malt center and tons of whisky on the back end. Grows overly sweet as it warms, made all the more sugary by the thin texture. Good depth, with the layered malts leading to a mild floral bitterness on the back end, but damned if this beast doesn’t grow cookie-ish as the pint wears on, with mild dark fruit notes popping up amid the endless burnt sugar. Nice bourbon caramel nose. Pours thin and fizzy, lacking a head or lace. In dire need of more body. Heavy-handed entry in a style that demands finesse.

12 oz can from Bine & Vine. Pours brown with a slight tan head. Aroma is amazing. Bourbon and fig/raisin. And the roasty malt seems to have a smoke aspect. Near full bodied. Flavor is somewhat sweet dark fruit and somewhat roasty malt. Very caramel/treacle. And then there's a ton of bourbon. Can't get to the wood. This is very flavorful stuff. Great!

Pour is a dark brown, almost black with a large tan head. Aroma is all bourbon barrel with some raison type dark fruit. Flavor is sweet dark fruit with lots of bourbon barrel, vanilla and some hot alcohol. I don't really get a big scotch ale aspect to this but this has a huge bourbon barrel flavor to this. The can said this beer spent 13 months in the barrel and you can really feel it. This was very tasty but a expensive can.
