Crisp, fruity flavours

We were asked to make something that the lager drinkers in our freehouse, The Spinners Arms, could try. So we made them this Kolsch lager style beer and it’s gone down incredibly well. Called Herkules after the German hop we used, we decided it wasn’t a bad name for the beer itself – given that it’s a little bit strong. It’s a pale beer with a citrus and fruity taste and a lovely floral note.

500ml bottle bought at Local in Carlisle, shared with Finn on a Northern train from York to Preston. A big white head reduced to a filmy layer while leaving lacing rings down the glass. Misty golden body. Vague aroma of pale malts and a distant citric note. Shy taste of ripe fruits and grain. Short drying end. Lively carbonated. So and so. (08.02.2019)
