Sampled on draft the brewpub this beer poured an almost black color with a large fluffy beige head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was dry and roasty with vanilla cream and strong coffee. The flavor was bitter with vanilla cream, dry toasty malts, and coffee. Long finish. Medium body. Odd for style but tasty.

Tap at the D.C. venue. Pours brown with a beige head. Malty aroma. Med body. Flavor is a touch chocolate with some rye. Sort of sweet and spicy. And maybe earthy. Different.
